911 Turbo an icon Porsche

In the year 1975 Porsche launched the 930 model, a vehicle turbocharged with exhaust gases. The 930 had a rear spoiler that gave it its characteristic silhouette.

Since then, various engines have emerged, from the original 3.0 of 260 CV to the 3.3 of 300 CV, becoming an object of desire for lovers of aircooled classics.

The initial state

This project came to us through a new client who had just purchased this unit at a used classic vehicle fair and was looking for a complete, totally original restoration of the vehicle.

Its first owner was a model from Tenerife who won the Miss Spain contest back in the 80 and we were able to verify that its mileage was real and maintained many important aspects of investment and future value.

Olga’s opinion

After several phone calls and conversations, the unit arrived at the workshop and we were able to verify that it was in an original state but with some work done half-heartedly and that it had the defects and damage of units that had been around for many years without servicing or care.

The first phase is always testing, testing the unit in its current state and seeing the points that really need in-depth work or that have stopped being operational over time.

Subsequently we proceed to uncouple the engine/gearbox capsule and take it to the engine room.

This part of the vehicle went to the restoration to carefully begin to be disassembled, keeping all the hardware well and with maximum order and neatness.

The body was left completely naked and the sheet metal and paint sanitation processes began.

Meanwhile, in the engine room work began on complete engine disassembly, complete overhaul of gearbox and transmission and clutch kit.

The assembly of the engine was carried out under the highest standards of quality and originality.

Engine Rehabilitation

It is worth distinguishing two different concepts:

-Engine rebuild is when we carry out complete disassembly of all engine components, screw by screw and piece by piece for subsequent measurement, cleaning and weighing and assembly to obtain an engine with maximum compression and km 0.

-Major overhaul: here at Valentin Motors we call major overhaul the intervention process of engine and gearbox decoupling and complete systems review protocol but without disassembling the complete engine.

Finally the engine was in impeccable condition, we have a before/after comparison:

Valenti’s opinion

In the model year 1989 the gearbox 4 was replaced by a 5 speed, which made the Reconstruction would be simpler since we know these types of changes perfectly, close to the vehicles from the 1990 years.

The body and the paint of the 930 Turbo

One of our obsessions is leaving vehicles according to their original specifications. In this way, we can shortcut the passage of time and give a vehicle that is more than forty years old the appearance of a model that just left the factory. The process goes through:

Disassemble the components

The maroon 930 Turbo without engine or bumpers, on the lift
Bumpers and trim of the 930 Turbo removed, resting on the floor
The 930 Turbo's whale tail spoiler removed, with its grille

The final result: 911 Turbo restoration

The final result is a spectacular vehicle that allows you to once again feel the sensations with which the vehicle was originally built. A work of several months whose fruit is the pride of the workshop
