Porsche Boxster and Cayman type 981 (2012-2016)

The 981 is the last Boxster and Cayman generation with naturally aspirated flat-sixes across the range: 2.7 with 265 hp, S with the 3.4 and 315, GTS with 330 and, at the top, the Boxster Spyder and the Cayman GT4 with the 385 hp 3.8 from the Carrera S. Electric steering, new body and an interior inherited from the 991.

It is the generation that has appreciated most in the shortest time, above all GTS, Spyder and GT4, because what came next changed engine. A 981 with history is a relaxed purchase; a GT4 with history is an investment.

What we check on a 981 before selling it

  • Complete service history and service campaigns carried out.
  • PDK or manual: service, clutch and gearbox behaviour in every mode.
  • Engine: minor leaks at valve covers and gaskets, oil consumption and cold noises.
  • Suspension, PASM if fitted, brakes and tyres: size, dates and uneven wear.
  • On Spyder and GT4: track use, brake and tyre changes and originality of the car.
