Porsche 356 for sale

Porsche 356 (1948-1965)

The 356 is the first Porsche and the one that set the recipe: an air-cooled flat-four hung behind the rear axle and a light body built for mountain roads. It was made in four series, Pre-A, A, B and C, with engines from 1.1 to 2.0 litres and coupé, cabriolet, speedster and roadster bodies.

A 356 is bought for what it is and for what it has been. The paperwork, the factory Kardex and matching chassis, engine and gearbox numbers weigh as much as the mechanical condition. It is a simple car to maintain and a very expensive one to restore badly.

What we check on a 356 before selling it

  • Body and underside: sills, floors, door bottoms, battery box and suspension towers. Rust sets the price of a 356 more than the engine does.
  • Chassis, engine and gearbox numbers against the paperwork and, where it exists, the Porsche certificate of authenticity.
  • Engine: compression, leaks, condition of the carburettors and of the 6-volt electrical system.
  • Drum brakes on the A and B series and discs on the C: adjustment, cylinders and hoses.
  • Restoration history: what was done, who did it and with which parts.

Buying a Porsche 356 at Valentín Motors

Every Porsche 356 we sell goes through our 111-point inspection, leaves with a twelve-month or 10,000 km warranty on engine and gearbox, and its certified mileage is stated on the sales invoice. We have been Porsche specialists since 1979, with our own workshops in Barcelona and Madrid: the car you buy here has been on our lift before it reaches your hands.

If you have found the one you want elsewhere, we can also check it for you before you pay for it: pre-purchase inspection.
