The 718 renews Boxster and Cayman with turbocharged four-cylinder engines: 2.0 with 300 hp and 2.5 with 350 in the S and 365 in the GTS. In 2019 the naturally aspirated six returns with the 4.0 giving 400 hp in the GTS 4.0 and 420 in the Spyder and Cayman GT4, and with it come back the waiting lists.
The four-cylinder cars are fast, frugal and buy well used; the 4.0 cars are the ones the market chases. In both cases it pays to look at the remaining warranty and how the car has been used.
What we check on a 718 before selling it
- Factory or Porsche Approved warranty: how much remains and on what terms it transfers.
- Service history within the Porsche network and service campaigns carried out.
- Turbo engine: boost pressure, intercooler and leaks; on the 4.0, oil consumption and cold noises.
- PDK or manual, brakes, tyres and wheels: condition, dates and damage.
- On Spyder and GT4: track use, replaced components and originality.
