Porsche 911 Turbo type 930 (1975-1989)

The 930 is the first 911 Turbo: 3.0 litres and 260 hp in 1975, 3.3 with intercooler and 300 hp from 1978, always with the four-speed gearbox until 1989, its last year, when it received the five-speed G50. Wide arches, whale-tail spoiler and a power delivery unlike anything that came after.

It is a car that demands respect at the wheel and when buying. Unmodified cars with history are getting scarcer, and the difference in value between an original 930 and one with a Flachbau kit or a tuned engine is large in both directions.

What we check on a 930 before selling it

Turbo, wastegate and blow-off valve: boost pressure, smoke and noises with the engine hot.
Intercooler, hoses and oil leaks at covers, seals and oil cooler.
Clutch and gearbox: the torque of the 3.3 punishes both; we check for slip, noises and synchros.
Body: wide arches, spoiler, floors and towers. And if it is a Flachbau, whether it left the factory that way.
History and originality: engine, gearbox and colour according to the Porsche certificate.
