Porsche 924 (1976-1988)

The 924 opens the transaxle Porsches: front engine, rear gearbox and near-perfect weight distribution. The Audi-derived 2.0 with 125 hp came first; the 924 Turbo rose to 170 and 177 hp, the Carrera GT to 210, and the 924 S of 1986 to 1988 used the 2.5 from the 944 with 150 and later 160 hp.

It is the most affordable classic Porsche and one of the best to drive for the money. Turbo and Carrera GT are collector pieces; a 924 S is a car for every weekend.

What we check on a 924 before selling it

  • Timing belt on the 924 S and chain on the 2.0: condition, date of last change and tensioner.
  • Torque tube and the bearings of the shaft between engine and gearbox: noises and vibration.
  • On the Turbo: turbo, wastegate, turbo cooling and condition of the manifolds.
  • Corrosion in sills, wheel arches and door bottoms; glass tailgate and its hinges.
  • K-Jetronic injection, cold start, and matching numbers with the paperwork.

Buying a 924 at Valentín Motors

Every Porsche 924 we sell goes through our 111-point inspection, leaves with a twelve-month or 10,000 km warranty on engine and gearbox, and its certified mileage is stated on the sales invoice. We have been Porsche specialists since 1979, with our own workshops in Barcelona and Madrid: the car you buy here has been on our lift before it reaches your hands.

If you have found the one you want elsewhere, we can also check it for you before you pay for it: pre-purchase inspection.
