Porsche 944 (1982-1991)

The 944 is the transaxle Porsche designed in full: a 2.5-litre four-cylinder with balance shafts, 163 hp, and a wide-arched body inherited from the 924 Carrera GT. The Turbo reached 220 and 250 hp, the 16-valve S 190, the 3.0-litre S2 211, and the Cabriolet closed the series.

It is the Porsche of the eighties that has aged best: robust, balanced and with parts available. The rule is simple: belts up to date and no rust. Everything else can be fixed.

What we check on a 944 before selling it

  • Timing belt and balance shaft belt: every four years or 60,000 km. Date, mileage and tensioners.
  • Water pump and rollers, which are changed with the belts or regretted afterwards.
  • Torque tube and bearings, clutch and gearbox; on the Turbo, turbo and cooling.
  • Cylinder head gasket on the 2.5 and 3.0, oil leaks and radiator condition.
  • Corrosion in wheel arches and underside, cracked dashboard and sunroof; match with the paperwork.

Buying a 944 at Valentín Motors

Every Porsche 944 we sell goes through our 111-point inspection, leaves with a twelve-month or 10,000 km warranty on engine and gearbox, and its certified mileage is stated on the sales invoice. We have been Porsche specialists since 1979, with our own workshops in Barcelona and Madrid: the car you buy here has been on our lift before it reaches your hands.

If you have found the one you want elsewhere, we can also check it for you before you pay for it: pre-purchase inspection.
