Porsche Cayenne (from 2002)
The Cayenne is the SUV that made everything else possible. The first generation (2002-2010) uses V6 and V8 engines of up to 520 hp in the Turbo S and, from 2009, the diesel; the second (2010-2017) adds the hybrid and loses weight; the third, from 2017, brings the Coupé, the E-Hybrids and, in 2023, a thorough update.
It is a Porsche that is used a lot and serviced little, and that shows on the used market. A Cayenne with history and with its known faults sorted is an extraordinary car for the money; we make sure it is that one.
What we check on a Cayenne before selling it
- First generation: propshaft and its centre bearing, and plastic coolant pipes on the V8, which are replaced with aluminium ones.
- Transfer case and differentials: noises, leaks and oil condition. Air suspension: leaks and compressor.
- Interval servicing: oil, spark plugs, filters and belt or chain depending on engine. Diesel: injectors and particulate filter.
- On hybrids: condition of the battery and the high-voltage system.
- Tyres, brakes and electronics: sensors, driver assistance and stored codes.
